OBJECTIVE:

The objective of HJAMP is to assist youth between the ages of 8-18yrs acquire the necessary education, skills, and overall development which will enable them to become positive, successful and productive individuals in society. The goal of the program is to promote educational excellence and overall positive development through effective mentoring and community involvement.

MENTORSHIP AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:

Mentorship is the foundation of HJAMP; this objective is accomplished by having adult leaders, mentors, and community sponsors take on active roles in the educational and social development of the youth. Interest in hobbies, educational activities, and potential careers are highly encouraged and supported by our mentors.

Individuals interested in becoming mentors in our program are seriously encouraged to give at least a 1-2 year commitment before they are considered for participation in the program.

PARENTAL/GUARDIAN APPROVAL:

All youth participating with HJAMP must have written approval from his/her Parent or Guardian. Once enrolled, information on all HJAMP activities will be communicated to Parents/Guardians on a continuing basis. In addition, the participation of Parents/Guardians in partnership with the program is highly encouraged.

GROUP/MENTOR WORKSHOPS:

At group workshops the youth will have the opportunity to meet and socialize with other youth, as well as interact with the other Mentors in the program. If necessary, there may also be special meetings scheduled, at which time parents/guardians will be notified in advance. In addition, trips and other cultural events may take place on Saturdays or Sundays.

Workshops are held the 4th Saturday of each month at 12:00 noon.  We are located at Hiram Masonic Temple, 143 Warwick Road Lawnside, NJ 08045

Phone: (856)-547-8890

COMPONENTS OF THE PROGRAM:

Mentors are instructed to contact their assigned youth at least once a week, in addition to the monthly workshop held by the program.  Also, a record of progress is kept by the mentor and relayed to the program Director, as well as the Parent/Guardian on a consentient basis.
